TechBridge was born from the vision of Øyvind Rideng, a Norwegian IT entrepreneur with a deep passion for Africa, inspired by a trip to Mombasa in his youth. In 2015, he teamed up with Tone Faugli and Frøydis D. Archer, both with extensive experience in Africa, to form the founding team.
Our journey began with the first TechBridge Challenge in 2016, in collaboration with the Technical University of Mombasa. We sought out young entrepreneurs with innovative tech ideas, particularly in hardware electronics and mobile payments. Over three years, our challenges evolved, training over 100 youths in business modeling, finance, and marketing. Top participants were even employed by SUNAMI SOLAR, our spin-off company focused on Pay-As-You-Go energy solutions.
Today, TechBridge continues to empower Africa’s future leaders by nurturing tech-driven business ideas that create lasting impact.
